Buckmark - Contour barrel question
So I would like to try a 7.25" barrel on my Buckmark, which currently has a 5.5" camper barrel.
However, affordable options are kinda rare. Browning has "obsoleted" all the bull barrels.
They still sell the Contour barrel, but I don't feel like buying a $90 full length rail on top of the cost of the barrel.
I currently use one of the TacSol picatinny rails to mount a red dot. Therefore, iron sights are not an issue for me.
Here is the question. Does anyone know if it's possible to use the same short TacSol rail with the contour barrel? I know it might look a little silly, and there would be an unused screw hole in the barrel over by the muzzle, but is the screw hole over the chamber in the same position it's in on all the other Buckmark barrel types?
Another way of asking this question is, "Across all Buckmark barrels (contour, slab, bull, etc), will the dimension shown in the picture always be the same distance?"

Re: Buckmark - Contour barrel question
FWIW, I searched a LONG time on RFC and finally found an answer. Yes, you can do this.

With a red dot, barrel length is basically irrelevant other than balance. (In the context of this topic) Sight radios/barrel length is more of an issue when using iron sights.
It wasn't clear what your objective was for switching to the longer barrel.

I don't spend unreasonable amounts of money on buying a lot of guns.
I spend unreasonable amounts of money on needless mods for the guns I already have.

But the serious answer is as follows:
1) I like a heavier gun for target shooting off hand. I have a very light trigger but the dot still gets a little quivery as I pull the trigger.
2) I like to play barrel roulette. Current one dings up the bullets a bit more than I like as they enter the chamber, and am not wild about the crown (though the latter is probably my imagination). Maybe this one will be SLIGHTLY more refined.
Also, come to find out the Browning price list prices are way off (I think it was last updated in 2013), at least for big ticket items like barrels. PL has 7.25" contour for like $132, actual price is $234. It was cheaper at Midwest Gun Works so I bought it from there.
