Pistols Used in the 2011 Mayleigh Cup Empty Pistols Used in the 2011 Mayleigh Cup

During a break in the competition, I walked the firing line at the 2011 Mayleigh Cup and surveyed the various .22 pistols in use by these top competitors.

Here they are:

Hämmerli 208s . . . . . . .7
Marvel Conversion . . . . .4
Pardini . . . . . . . . . . . . .1
FWB AW-93 . . . . . . . . . 1
Unknown . . . . . . . . . . . 1

TOTAL . . . . . . . . . . . . .14

The one pistol is unknown because the competitor boxing it up so that I couldn't see it.

Fourteen shooters fired ten shots on a 50 meter International free pistol target during the team selection process. This was scored by Bill Blankenship and added to the scores of their three .22 slow fire targets fired during the .22 day. The shooters who had the ten top combined scores then became the firing members of the USA Mayleigh Cup Team. The eleventh and twelveth shooters became the alternate team members. The thirteenth and fourteenth were thanked for their participation, and left the firing line.

The firing and alternate members then shot three more 50 meter targets for the official team scores. The scores of the alternate team members were not included in the team score, but they did get to shoot.

BTW, I was there just to observe, not as a competitor.

Wow. Are High Standards REALLY a thing of the past? Does anyone shoot them at Perry?

I like that the alternates both shot so well. They ended up 4th and 6th. Good job alternates!

Keep in mind that knowing your score will not count as an alternate does take off some of the match pressure. Was this a factor in their better scores? Only they know for sure.

Here are the scores of the fourteen shooters, just after shooting the shoot-off target. The shooters are listed in order of their three slow fire scores during the .22 individual matchs.
