Mako Universal Scope Mount
Does anyone here use the Make mount for an ultradot on a 1911?

It looks like an easy way to mount a dot without permanently altering the firearm.
Any drawbacks to worry about with such a mount?

Re: Mako Universal Scope Mount
I have never seen anyone use one of those. But, I haven't seen a 1911 with a rail on the frame used either.
I've used something similar with a Glock. It looks like the easiest way to mount an optic without needing a gunsmith. It sits pretty high above the bore which accentuates your wobble.
If you find you like using an optic, you could move this mount to another gun and have your slide drilled and tapped for a more standard rail.

I hadn't thought about the added wobble. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and just get a frame mount or drill the slide...

Re: Mako Universal Scope Mount
you would be better with a grip mount than that. you will find nay Sayers about this but if mounted correctly it will do the job. The best mount would be a screw mounted frame or slide mount but if you cant afford a couple hundred for mount and gunsmith work.
