NRAs rule 22
Why did they bother adding this rule when nobody it seems has .22 ammo for sale andif thye do..like Midway itis sold out in 3 minutes. That is what I faced today. Unless you want to spend 16.00 for 50 rounds.
Am down to my last 400 rounds, enough for 2 1800's and thats it!

Use a site like wikiarms.com and be ready to jump and you can find some ammo for less. Grice recently had CCI SV and currently, Palmetto has some MAGTECH, .22lr Standard Velocity 40gr Lead Round Nose 50 Round Box at only $3.99.

Champion Shooters, Champion's Choice. Midway has Norma Tac-22 and Norma Match for WAY under $15 a box. I saw CCI std for sale somewhere today for $44/ brick too.

Re: NRAs rule 22
That must be it Ed. I knew I saw it this morning somewhere. There might be a 2 brick limit. But 1000 + 400 is way better than 400.

I haven't used the magtech. Just call Palmetto and order by phone.

Magtech usually has good results for their cf ammo.

If you have an account at MidwayUSA (or establish one) you can request to be notified when a product comes into stock. Today I was notified that CCIsv is now in stock. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/847005/cci-standard-velocity-ammunition-22-long-rifle-40-grain-lead-round-nose-box-of-500-10-boxes-of-50?cm_vc=ProductFinding

This is good news, it's like the 3rd or 4th shipment they have received in the last 2 months and every time they have received one several other retailers have gotten a shipment too. It's taking much longer to sell out than even 6 months ago.

Re: NRAs rule 22
I never did any official testing (rest or chrono) with the Magtech SV but I also bought it just to practice with. The ammo I got was all over the place charge wise. There wasn't very much consistancy. I'd have several that felt like CCI SV and then one that would barely cycle the slide. Then a few shots later one that felt like an HV round. These were all shot out of the Ruger 22/45 MKIII. Shot a few of my other go to 22 ammo choices right after an no issue.
This said its all based on my preception. One of my other club members said he pick up a mostly for plinking with none of the issues I described. Hopefully just a bad lot. I'd still buy them to try again.
