Club members that shoot Precision pistol.
If you belong to a gun club, what percentage of the members shoot Precision pistol?

In my experience the percentage of members that shoot any one discipline is relatively small. But in one club of 600, there might be 60 that shoot some matches each year.

2000 members with 1 bullseye shooter. I have a couple of trainees but they have yet to make it to a match. Closest range that has matches is 80 miles away.

At a lot of clubs the vast majority shoot at bullseye targets. However they aren't precision pistol. Most use two hands and if they hit the paper with all their shots at 20 feet they're happy.

Yep, and get annoyed if your shooting at 50 yards because we don't have fixed firing points and they can't dominate the range.

Our club is huge, thousands of members Riverbend in Dawsonville Ga., but only about 10 shoot bullseye but matches are open to all, members or not.

Re: Club members that shoot Precision pistol.
nobody at my club shoots or even really knows about precision pistol, so my approach is getting PPC started, I see it as a bridge between action and precision. I am currently getting a PPC (NRA action) match started in place one night a month instead of the usual bowling pin "match". Hopefully, as I show them how to knock the center out they will ask how, I will then chuckle and say this is easy after doing precision pistol, Jim I know it's not easy, but hopefully some interest will gather. Most of the bowling pins guys are older and maybe some will see that it's the precision skills they really want.
it's a tough sell these days since other styles are more readily available and somewhat easier than precision pistol. we'll see.

We have 500 members and between the summer (outdoor) league and winter (smallbore) league there are probably 30 shooters. As far as I know none of us shoot any matches outside of the league(s) and they are not NRA sanctioned (although we follow the rules). I don't know if anyone has a classification although some most likely did once upon a time.

I fired my Range Officer for the first time today with commercial 230 ball and am waiting for lead pills to come in that I ordered yesterday. My issue Smith 41 is on the way from the Crane armory and should be here within 2 weeks. (excuses I know)
Our gun club (Palmetto Gun Club) cancelled the Bullseye discipline due to lack of interest, so now Columbia/Orangeburg is the closest. Mid Carolina Gun Club has a match June 27, and I am planning on that being my first since Mid Carolina Rifle doesn't have a match in June/July.

Re: Club members that shoot Precision pistol.
My club is limited to 500 members.
I advertise extensively and we have maybe 12 active members on my bullseye team, a couple of hangers on, a two groupies.
Awesome bunch of shooters, highest caliber individuals I have had the pleasure to meet.
my smallbore team is not doing as well, I worry about fielding a team every match.
Regards,
Crankster

If you have never shot a 2700, before your guns are ready, go and watch, and help the range officer. You will be better able to focus on your shooting when you know the drill.Regular_Guy wrote:Schaumannk wrote:There are plenty of matches in your area. Columbia this coming weekend. We have about 2,000 club members, with maybe 30 bullseye shooters. Usual turnout for our Saturday club matches is 12-15.

Our club has near 300 members. Bullseye, er a Precision, has me, Roddy and a few sometimes shooters. Even I am a sometimes at times shooter due to family and work. Most pistol shooters are of the paper plate and target frame blasters crowd
