Balance Beam Powder Scale Help
First topic message reminder :
Looking to pick up a scale now that Santa Clause has brought my Dillon 650 to my house. Is there a reason to pick one over the other or another option I should look at?

Re: Balance Beam Powder Scale Help
Dave,
The big bonus of a GenII is the speed it drops powder with that accuracy. That's what you're paying for.
I have a GenI and i'm hear to tell you after checking both my GenI Prometheus and my Parker tuned Redding Model 2 with RCBS check weights, The Redding is just as accurate and more repeatable.

Re: Balance Beam Powder Scale Help
I think the Prometheus, while very cool, is a little too expensive. I'm just measuring to ensure my 650 throws the correct weight and the balance beam or now it appears, the Bald Eagle Powder Scale looks like it will do fine. Although it advertises accurate to +/- 0.015 gr but it looks like the BR guys using the high end calibrated scales assess it to be good to about +/- 0.025 gr in real world conditions. That's good enough to ensure that my average over ten throws is going to be what I expect. At $79 it looks hard to beat.

Re: Balance Beam Powder Scale Help
Robert I do 100 at a time with a Harrell's and more than 60% are on or within .02 gr. The heavies I dump and rethrow, if they are light, I trickle up. I use RL15 and operate the measure to the mental count of "thousand - one."
Measure is the Custom 90, scales are gem pro 250, RCBS 1010 or my original RCBS 505. Trickler is a manual a RCBS.
Now that my knee us working without too much pain, I am going to shoot at least the 45 stage of a 2700.
