.45 160 grain SWC loads?
I just bought some Dardas 160 grain .45 cast bullets to try. Does anyone have some favorite data? Preferences for 25 or 50 yards? At the moment, I have Bullseye, WST, and Titegroup powder to work with.
I loaded 50 of them with 4.0 grains of Bullseye, Starline brass, WW primer, seated to 1.180". Fairly heavy crimp. Still haven't figured out how to measure a taper crimp adequately. Hope to try them tomorrow.
Thanks.

I just experimented with 155 gr LSWC with 4.0 gr BE and they shot marginally well. Used .469 crimp. I'm going to try pushing them faster and try tighter crimp to see if group shrinks. Was shooting 25 yards.

Was trying ACME coated 175 grain. They grouped decent at 25yards with 4.3 gr Titegroup.

I used to shoot Quality Cast 160's. They look like the same design as Dardas, an H&G s242 copy. My oal was closer to 1.16. 4.0 gr bullseye gave me 780 fps from a 6" gun. Accuracy was good enough for 25 yd or indoors. I tried 4.2 and 4.4 but couldn't tell any difference in group size.

Cannot see why it would matter but the ACME 175s do not have a grease ring (since they are coated).

we have done extensive testing with the 160 vallants, which are the button nose same as others listed above, 4.4-4.5 of bullseye will eat a single hole at 25 yds, if you want these to be accurate at 50 yds then get ready to weigh and sort, try and get the range into 1 gr variation then they do good at 50 too.
