High Standard Victor-East Hartford
HI
Stopped by local gun shop here in se PA on way home from work. He got in a High Standard Victor with front barrel weight and 1 green follower mag from an estate. It is cherry. Little to no use. Asking $900. Also has 2 more green follower mags for sale.
Are these Victors as good as the 106s' from Hamden???
Is this price fair?
Thanks,
Paul

Without pics it seems fair.

Re: High Standard Victor-East Hartford
They can be as good. Need more info.
Are the magazine followers a pastel green? (good) or bright lime green? (bad) or worse dark dark green (real bad)
Are numbers 5 and 10 round counts on the mag? (good) Sometimes you see white followers on early good mags.
Does the sight rib have a cutout clearance over the breech? (not bad, but it will probably twang when fired) Not an issue if you scope or dot the Victor.

Re: High Standard Victor-East Hartford
I for years shot on Hamden and one E. Hartford and could never tell the difference. Would have been a very early E. Hartford.
Seems a bit high to me but condition is everything.

I would expect to pay about $1k for a pristine Hamden Victor with a matching box. The Trophy and Citation shoot fine and you can pick up one of those for probably $600-$700 if you are just looking for a shooter.

I have an East Hamden Citation and it's great except that it was part of the range of guns that had the barrel attached to the frame with an allen head bolt instead of the normal "push button" take down system.
The bolt-together guns aren't compatible with the replacement barrels that are available on the market.

Are they as good as the 106s? That reminds me of the Xerox commercial where everyone claims to be as good as a Xerox and the last salesman says "it is a Xerox". It might be "as good" but that wouldn't make it a 106. That said, 900.00 is a good price if it is really nice. I have seen them go for a lot more then that. You could also pick up a 106 for a lot less.knightimac wrote:HI

I was in a local gun shop last year and picked up a pistol for 550.00 that was a hybrid of both. The price was lower because the pistol was modified. Go figure.

So that's where my E Hartford Victor barrel went
It's the most accurate of the spares I had.

The Texas stuff is hit or miss--even the 10x. The guy who was running the Texas operation and is no longer with Hi Standard was extremely untrustworthy. I hope that Hi Standard's reputation will improve now that they are under new management.Texas 10X hand fitted guns any good?
