red dot mount for 41 performance center
I have been wanting to put a matchdot on my 41, I have looked at google image and bing trying to find any pictures of one on a 5.5 barrel and have only found one and that one had both the rings clamped on the front of tube and nothing on the rear, It looks as if you would have to mount it so the tube almost touches front sight to have a ring on each side of tube. Have any of you seen any other type of mount that would work so I could use both rings and keep the tube more rearward. I have a rifle mount thats offset but it would be way to tall. My other thought was to use a reflex type sight like the ultradot L/T or C more. But I use this for indoor bullseye so I think the tube type is better suited . Thanks for any direction/suggestions.

You could put an HD-micro on it.

I have looked into that one, if only it had more than one dot size. I have it in my head that it would be nice to have a larger dot choice for timed and rapid fire. Thanks for the suggestion.

Got another suggestion. Take a look at this. There are a lot of different one out there.

I don't see how the proper Weaver base (#62 ?) and normal rings won't work for you
They do for me.
They do for me.

Re: red dot mount for 41 performance center
I started with an M41 using both rings front and rear.
Then purchased a Clark without the sight extension which forced me to mount both rings in the front(never had an issue).
Then I went to a Marvel and went back to a ring in front and rear.
Now have gone to a Marvel dual purpose(irons and dot mount) so I can remove the dot to shoot irons for the .22 EIC matches.
This has forced me to use only one ring in the front(never an issue)
Other than it does not look traditional, it serves very well.
Since the dot does not reciprocate and it is only a .22 and not a .45 or high powered rifle, it will hold up with one good steel ring.

Re: red dot mount for 41 performance center
Clarence, I did check out Clarks web page and they do show one mounted with both rings on front tube to keep sight to the rear, Like you said it just doesn't look right but must work. I thought having the built in rail would have been the ticket when I bought this because my ruger mkiii had the rail screws come loose a few times, hindsight I almost wish I had bought a Standard version and used the weaver rail like most do.Have Any of you tried the C-More RTS2 reflex sight for bullseye use or any other brand ? That C-more sight has my attention but should probably stick to a matchdot. Thanks.

I recommend using a scope with round tube for BE. Tube works kinds like rear sight when aiming. The reglex type scopes are harder to shoot well.

As Jon stated above, I personaly think you will have better results using a tube.
The eye/mind can center a circle in a circle naturally.
I know when some of those reflex sights came out they were only parallax free for like 25 yards, maybe.

Re: red dot mount for 41 performance center
I have been using the 2 mounts together on the front of my Matchdot II on the 41 Performance Center for a few years now. I also went with the Warne rings and have been very happy with the setup. Never moved or any issues at all. The rear of the Matchdot sits a hair above the rear irons. Great solid setup and nice balance.

Do you keep the rings all the way to the rear of rail? Thats how the clark one is pictured. Thanks .derekburk007 wrote:I have been using the 2 mounts together on the front of my Matchdot II on the 41 Performance Center for a few years now. Re: red dot mount for 41 performance center
Thanks Derek, The pic work fine. I dont mind the look of the at all. Did you guys use different rings for better clamping or for a different look. I almost ordered the matchdot last night but you know how it goes when you spend to much time reading forums and less time ordering parts . I started to think I want the more simple ultradot 25 . to many choices when you havent used any of them.

Re: red dot mount for 41 performance center
Ok great. I apologize. Just went back to look up the actual mount. I ended up going with a Leopold mount I am pretty sure they were the medium height. But it was so long ago can't remember for sure.. I chose those for a couple reasons. I liked the height and how it sat as low as I could get it to the rear irons but still kept the weight of the rings low. The ones that come with the matchdot are ok I think. But I liked the clean look and hard holding the Leopold had. Lots of great reviews on the PRW series. Fit rock solid. I have even removed the scope/rings and put it back on without having to touch my zero!!!! Went back to the exact same mount. Quite impressive!!! I went with the Matchdot II for the different dot sizes. That was the first reddot I had used so I wanted the option to change it around if I wanted. I have been very happy with the rig. The Nil Griffe grip is AMAZING as well!!!!
Good luck with the shopping/ordering battle!!! I know the feeling. I spent a LONG time reading, looking, reading before I pulled the trigger on this setup. But have been very very happy.
Good luck!

red dot options for Model 41 that worked for me
i started with Bushnell red dot co-witnessed on my PC M41, but then Optics Planet ran a sale in November that put a MatchDot UltraDot II into a more reasonable price point. I used Leopold low rings to put it on. The M41 was awesome with open sights - i would say somehow improved even with the red dot (and either CCI SV or Eley ammo running through it)

After using the multi dot matchdot have any of you settled on a dot size or do you still find changing it helpful for slow, timed, and rapid fire. Thanks.

2MOA works great at 25yds, with lower intensity settings
Was planning on using 4MOA for 50yds.

I do it the other way around. 2@ 50, 4 or 8 @ 25

Ok, thanks I'll try that. I'm new to using red dot, too. Been shooting open irons forever. Just getting old maybe

Re: red dot mount for 41 performance center
I missed that the barrel is a PC before. I have two rings on the front of an Ultradot on a 208s. I use the UD extension so the rings are as far apart as possible.
I much prefer the 8 min dots (even larger) and also prefer the 1" tubes.

Re: red dot mount for 41 performance center
last night i mocked up a 25mm tube and a 30 mm tube using some sockets and I think the 25mm will do just fine, the 30mm isn't much more but seems to big. Now only if ultradot still made the 25mm 4 dot I would be set. I have a tr25 bushnell on another 22 the glass viewing area is small and it has a 5moa dot so the 25mm ultra dot with the 4moa dot will probably be just fine. Thanks again.
