KC's battle Axe Empty KC's battle Axe

Post by Axehandle Mon Jun 13, 2016 2:29 pm

When Larry Nelson prompted us about his conversions early this year I ordered two.  Put one on a pre series II Kimber Super Match frame.  Started fiddling with the trigger and took the parts out.  Saw the saddest looking parts I've ever seen on any 1911, much less a $2400 top of the line gun. Picked up one of KC's Battle Axe hammer/sear/disconnector sets for the frame.  To make a short story shorter I have enjoyed the Nelson Conversion with KC's trigger so much that I'm setting up a second for a backup.  Ordered the Battle Axe Friday.  When the mail ran Monday morning it was in my mailbox....

I have a buddy who has gone through a lot of Kimbers. He is highly disappointed with them. He wouldn't even look at the new Kimber revolver at the NRA Annual Meeting.

axe what will make KCs triggers even better is to have them setup by a gunsmith.  I wasn't able to shoot the long roll...sent it to KC to shorten it and now I very much like it.

I put a KC ax handle set on a brand new Range officer.  At first it had some creep.  KC said he would fix it.  But later I found the RO had a bit of flash dragging on the trigger itself by the mag release.  I stoned it off and all is good.  It is a very very good trigger.  I will get another soon

Make that "Battle Ax" set.  Smile

I have 5 of KC's roll triggers, 2 in guns he built.  They are all great but the ones in the guns KC built are exceptional.

Al, I will be there on vendors row in with Larry's Guns.  I will have a pistol that you can dry fire and check out the trigger.

Have 3 of his trigger kits in my Bullseye pistols, would have more but they do get pricey when ordering multiples.

When you have this thing in hand you will read that KC recommends TW25B gun grease to lubricate these parts.  Midway has it..

Definitely get the grease. I have one of KC's roll triggers and it was not as smooth as when installed. KC recommended using TW25B and it fixed the problem. Now everything gets TW25B.

And folks I can't emphasize enough, that a little goes a LONG way.  I put a drop about 1/16 of an inch round at the base of the hammer hooks and that's it.  If you use a lot it collects unburned powder, dirt, crud and everything else loose running around in the bottom end of your pistol.

I very soon have it available in my web store along with FireClean.  And of course I'll have it all available at Perry on vendors row.  Come look me up and say hey.

KC, on a slightly off topic, I noticed that your web site has some issues, images are not displayed correctly and contact forms are not submitted properly. If you need any help fixing it, please feel free to PM me.
