In case you haven't seen it, the NRA is giving our sport a little bit of publicity.

My question is, though, what is an "On Target Top Gun box"? I Googled it and found nothing.

I also thought it was interesting that it called the sport Bullseye and then put in parentheses "formerly called NRA Precision Pistol". Is that Zins messing with them or did we get a new name again?  Wink

Never heard of that brand gun box ... But I only been shooting bullseye for a few years and was conceived in the 80s.

Could it be a custom box from Ziegel Engineering?  I know they will do one-off designs. I recently sold one of their aluminum four gun boxes and it was extremely well made, but expensive when new.  I know that at one time some members of the military pistol teams used Ziegel boxes.

Are we precision pistol or bullseye now? It seems to me that the waiter of the article for the anRA competition magazine has it backward.

           From the rule book

"Official Rules and Regulations to govern the conduct of all Precision Pistol Matches."

That's what I thought. But the article said bullseye, "formerly known as precision pistol."

Thought Bullseye was conventional pistol and precision pistol was more of a title for Olympic style events?

No, that's international pistol. Bullseye is most definitely now called precision pistol and we are precision pistolists.....

The article says formally, not formerly.

Good research, Ralph.

Good catch, Mike. It does say formally. I read it wrong.

From my understanding it was called Bullseye forever, NRA called it Conventional but everyone still called it Bullseye.  About a year ago the NRA made a second run at it and renamed Conventional to Precision.  At least Precision gives you a better mental picture.  I suspect everyone who has shot Bullseye for years will keep calling it Bullseye:-)
