First topic message reminder :

The NRA shooting director has said from his inquiry's that most precision pistol (bullseye) shooters want the Nationals for our sport to stay as they are at Camp Perry, since we have the largest bullseye member base of active shooters in the country I thought he would like to see if that holds true here as well.  Easy question, If it was up to you and the Cardinal center has the full capabilities to host the venue as good or better than Camp Perry where would the 2017 and on NRA Precision Pistol Nationals be held?
Camp Perry as it has been or the new Cardinal shooting sports center, both are in Ohio.

Does Cardinal have sufficient and convenient resources for NRA level admin? NRA probably has their own idea what is required there..   How about awards assembly hall?  How convenient is Commercial Row and food contractors to the BE area?  Rest area for waiting relays?  Potties too?

But, you can shoot trap, skeet and sporting clays while waiting for your relay!

To answer your questions Jack...
Yes. Cardinal has two banquet halls. One that seat 250, the other seats 650.  A  dedicated  " Central Entry Building " and several pavilions on the grounds.

Even though we have a ton of members there are only a small percentage that are active daily, same with most things.

What ever happened to the NRA's Whittington Center Range? Would that be a candidate for holding the Nationals? Seems like it would resolve any money/mud inadequate facility concerns? Honestly don't know a whole lot about it but has anyone been to it?

From what I can tell there isn't a single turning target installed - all action pistol.

From what I recall, the PPC range does have turning targets.

However, housing has consistently proved to be an issue for Raton, and the Whittington Center. Competitor housing is minimal compared to what would be needed at the Center, and hotels in Raton are not to be spoken highly of.
I won't even talk about meals.
Getting there is difficult, and EVERYONE gets to travel! Forget airlines, and even if you had your own airplane, good luck on ground transportation.

I have shot regional Hipower there, as well as Nationals for both Hipower rifle Silhouette, and Smallbore Rifle Silhouette. These have all been less than 150 total competitors, and burdened all of the facilities to the exclusion of all other venues there.

That said, it is a very nice place to go and shoot, and every NRA member should.
