1911Lower ejection port.....Optional or mandatory?
hi people,happy christmas to all!!! i want to know the lower ejection port is neccesary in a 1911 range officer(future wadgun) or only optional,thanks!

Optional. Depends on optics/mount being used as to whether it would ever need to be lowered.

Shouldn't need lowered. Really low frame mounts are sometimes only reason to lower.

You don't need to lower an RO. Works fine as is or scoped with an RRA.
Here is mine. On my initial install the Kodiak base hung over the port a bit, but still ejected fine. I machined the ears off the scope mount so I could get it onto the rear slot. It just looks better. If I recall, the stock Aimpoint base fits fine, the Kodiak is just w-i-d-e.
Make sure to specify that you want the "full coverage" RRA rib if you have low-mount rear target irons. This style has wider skirt and will cover the sight cutouts better. This particular RRA rib was purchased from KC Crawford with my trigger kit.
I also made a sight filler blank from an EGW slide racker so that the rear rib screw has some meat to grab onto and changed the mounting holes/hardware to 8-40 screws.
