Eyeglass peep sight
I got a set of EyePal peep sight to stick on my shooting glasses. Did not like it always being there in my vision so ordered a pair of flipup sunglasses tinted in yellow. I was very surpised as I shot my RO today and the front sight was very sharp and the target was petty good. I can now shoot irons again and have no excuse not to. Can't blame old eye anymore. I tried it with my Matchdot II and that was even a better surpised as what used to look like a asteris now looks like a nice round dot. Don

Re: Eyeglass peep sight
I recently found that putting 1.0 reader clip-on flip-up over my prescription bifocals works great for distances of around 30 inches, or around the distance of a front sight. The front sight is super clear for me now, so hopefully I can remain an iron sight shooter for many more years.
Are your yellow flip-up lenses plain, or are they readers? I'd be interested in trying yellow tint.

Re: Eyeglass peep sight
They are plain as in went with the 1.5 readers first and they worked fine for the front sight but I could only guess that the blur 20 yds down range was a target. They also messed with my head when I looked else where. I wasn't sure if yellow was the right tint to get I just knew a lot of shooting glasses are yellow. I don't know how I will be with them in bright sun as I require sun glasses and wear dark amber ones at all times outdoors if the sun is up. Maybe I will have to get another set in that color and another peep. Zins said not to use the yellow glasses outdoors in bright sunlight, could damage your eyes. Indoors or cloudy should be ok.

My eye doctor told me to try one half the power of what my reading lenses (bottom of the bifocal) required. The bottom of my bifocals is 1.75. Half of that, rounded to the nearest 0.50 would be 1.0. So I tried it, and it works. I'm looking through the upper bifocal and the 1.0 reader at the same time. It makes a "mid range focus" of 20 to 40 inches, or perfect at 30 inches. The distance from the bridge of my nose to the front sight of my 1911 is 31 inches, so it ends up near perfect. I see the rear sight slightly blurry, front sight crystal clear, and the target a little blurry, just like it's supposed to be. I do have to place a piece of satin scotch tape over the left lens (non shooting eye) because I see two targets if I don't. I have them on right now as I type this. The combination works perfect for computer screen use as well.

I have a pair of computer glasses set at 30 inches they work fine for seeing the front sight but bother me if I look at anything in the distance. The flip up just work better then switching glasses when you have hearing protection on and hearing aids behind your ears.
