Aikman 41 barrel
Might have a chance to buy an Aikman made model 41 barrel from a Mcgowan blank and hopefully solve all my woes. Anybody have any experience with one of these? Scott

I've had a number of Floyd's barrels/guns come thru the shop. One local high master still shoots an Aikman 41. It's at least 20 years old, and still going strong. Excellent work.. Floyd made the entire barrel from scratch. Not an easy task. I never saw a liner from Floyd, but that doesn't mean he didn't do them. I still have Floyd's brochure, and he guaranteed 1/2 at 50yards...Pretty good claim..for back then..and still very good. I knew Floyd, but not real well..I've tried to get the micro groove blanks, but McGowan has changed owners, and the micro grooves are no more. I stopped making the 41 barrels from scratch, because I believe the liner system has the edge in accuracy. Unless it's been abused, you can't go wrong..

Re: Aikman 41 barrel
Jerry,
Thanks for your time here on the list and the other day on the phone. The guy that let me borrow it is willing to sell it and I am going to pay him monday for it. I believe it has had something like a half a box of ammo through it and that is it. The blueing on the breach face hasn't even worn off from the bolt. I went and had my gunsmith mill two slots in the rib tonight so I can mount my ultra dot. Looking forward to shooting this thing, it feels really nice. Not quite as heavy as my long barrel with 1 power Burris scope, but much heavier than the Clark which I didn't like the feel of at all. Scott
