Thoughts on Hyskore pistol box?
Highpower rifle competitor here, looking to dabble in BE this year, have seen the Hyskore boxes, (diamond-plate looking things) - would these be decent to start with, or if in same price range, just look for a used Gun-Ho, Pachmayr, or similar? Would be for 3 guns.
Thanks in advance.

I just saw those online today. They're ugly, cheaply made looking things, and I'm not sure the velcro strap over the top is enough to hold your guns in place with any resistance. Better to find a used bullseye box like the ones you named, or drop some bills and get a nice strong case bullseye box.

The ones I've seen look flimsy. IMHO you'd be better off getting a Precision Pistol Box or Strong Box. http://www.precisionpistolbox.comSkeet6 wrote:Highpower rifle competitor here, looking to dabble in BE this year, have seen the Hyskore boxes, (diamond-plate looking things) - would these be decent to start with, or if in same price range, just look for a used Gun-Ho, Pachmayr, or similar? I have the 4 gun Strong Box and really like it till I load it with guns and have to lift it. There is one thing I don't like about it is the metal gun holders some time they are hard to get slid open to place a gun in them. The more guns the harder it is, but then maybe I am just a clutch. I even greases the rails. Don

I too, have been on the hunt for a good box, and just wanted to point out that every one on those two sites listed above are either sold out or out of stock.
Which I guess is the same thing once I think about it.

If you want to buy a used pistol box, be advised that though they are extremely well made, most of them were designed for pistols with iron sights and scoped pistols won't fit.Wobbley wrote:There were a couple of used boxes for sal on Commercial row recently.

Re: Thoughts on Hyskore pistol box?
I probably simply don't know any better: I bought the Hyskore box and am happily using it to carry two scoped pistols and to hold my scope during training, league meets and matches.
Disclaimer: this is my first and only pistol box. It is very likely that if I use one of the "real" boxes, I will have an aha moment and realize the horrible deficiencies of the Hyskore box. But until that time, it does what it has to for me...
