Gas checks and accuracy
Like the title says. What are some opinions on soft lead and gas checks. This is mostly a 32 ACP question. Anyone have first hand knowledge

Re: Gas checks and accuracy
I wouldn't waste my time with that. Gas checks are meant to protect the bullet base from melting which can only happen when using super hot high velocity loads. A 32 ACP? Not exactly a barn burner. A 327 Fed Mag - maybe. As far as getting better accuracy with a gas check, probably not. A lead bullet that can obturate at normal velocity is what helps accuracy. But it would make an interesting experiment to see if a gas check would help. You never know, every gun is an individual and stranger things have happened.

The reason is the profile doesn’t have a line groove so there is really only one way to line it and that’s by spray so I was thinking of the gas checks.

I use gas checks on several calibers....the bullets have a relieved area at the base to accept the checks.
I'm not sure that you can apply a gas check to a bullet that was not designed for it from the start.
As always feel free to correct my flawed thinking
