What's a S&W Model 16 in .32swl good for?
I was interested in one, but can't find too many uses. I shoot 1911s in Centerfire and .45. Distinguished Revolver requires a .38 special. The only possibility I see are Harry Reeves matches. Am I missing anything?
I should clarify that I don't have any question about how good a gun it is, it's accuracy, etc. I'm just wondering what matches I could use it for that I don't already use my wadgun for. (I'm not going to give up my 1911 wadgun and shoot Centerfire with a .32swl revolver).

NRA Centerfire Match and also ISSF 25 meter Centerfire matches although most have gone to semi autos. (Strings are Slow Fire 5 shots in 5 minutes, Rapid Fire portion is one shot in 3 seconds from the 45 degree down position, target turns away for 7 seconds and the process is repeated for a total of 5 shots, - quite fun.)
The Model 16-4 (.32 H&R Mag) is quite accurate with regular .32 S&W wadcutter rounds and a little tweaking of the loads made mine excellent.
But almost all Model 16s are becoming almost too valuable to shoot. Early K32 target versions (very limited production) are generally 1,000's of dollars, if you can find one. (Conversely, regular J frame early fixed sight .32's are generally cheap since so many were made.)
I have a set of the Model 14, 16 and 17, full lug blue steel, matching TT / TH setup, all 6 shot versions. The 16 was by far the hardest to find and the Model 17 a close 2nd. The nice thing about the later full lug versions is they were already drilled and tapped for a scope mount (simply remove the rear sight and get the correct mount and you can shoot Harry Reeves / NRA centerfire matches with optic sight if you want).

I also have a 16-4 full underlug 32 magnum. It is by far the best shooting revolver I have owned. Settled on xtp100 jhp bullets which produce very tight groups at 50 yards with minimal recoil.

I’ve been looking for a 16-4 H&R at a reasonable price for sometime now, no luck so far.
I’m stuck in the 12-1300 range and they seem to go 17-1800 on GB.
Hoping I can find one locally and also save the tax and fees GB now adds

I had the same desire after getting the 16-4. Wanted to be able to shoot an all revolver 2700 just for fun with a set of full lug models. But the 25-2 N frame proved to be too large for my shortish fingers, so I let it go. Then realised that there was no longer any point keeping the 617. But I hope to keep the 16-4 for as long as I am able. The ultimate Reeves gun, IMHO.

I too have been looking for a S&W .32 S&W Long revolver to go with my two .32 S&W Long Bullseye pistols, Benelli and Sig-Hammerli.

Good for poking holes in targets and making other shooters jealous. I want one and don't need it.

I have a Star Progressive set up in .32 S&W Long and thousands of projectiles, primers and powder. Adding a revolver to my .32s would be great.

I had to settle for a Dan Wesson .32 H&R magnum.

Good for shooting steel plates with all of the reloading rejects that you have from years of experimenting with reloading .32 S&W Long. I have a Ruger GP100 in Federal .327 Magnum that serves this purpose, and it is a ton of fun to shoot.
