G h scope mount in strong box

Took a little modification ( drill n tap holes)
But it’s much better than the mount that came with the box ( not that it was bad)
Simply that this ones much more adjustable in

Did you know the drawers in most of the strong boxes are also adjustable for height? 

You appear to have one of the earlier versions so the drawer sides in those may have screws or just tabs.  If its tabs (you can't find any screws holding the slide base), use a screwdriver to pry to drawer slide base attached to box on either side towards the front of the box (carefully).  Later boxes were mostly screws.

For most boxes there will be a couple of other slots or screw holes that allow vertical adjustment of the drawers.
