jacketed 38 special at 50 yards? Empty jacketed 38 special at 50 yards?

Looks like projectile type is pretty open for CMP Distinguished Service Revolver. Any insight as to jacketed ammo working better at 50 yards? Personally I've had no luck with loading lead SWC for 50 yards. Bullet weight doesnt seem to be an issue either. "CMP Service Revolver competitors may fire any safe, single projectile ammunition."

Hornady XTP gotta be the business!

Got some in hand - not yet tried them.

I have some hornady 158 jhp that were my grandfathers for metallic silhouette. I haven’t found much (well anything) in the way of bullseye loads. I am sure it is possible, but I think most effort has been spent on DR legal loads and 148 hbwc. Eventually would like to figure out something.

110gr XTP in front of 4.2gr Bullseye. Seems to be the perfect load for Smith's 18.75 twist.jacketed 38 special at 50 yards? 20190510

I use 4.3 of WST for 50 and 25 in my .45. Just loaded a few hundred 125gr XTP with it. We'll see how it does when the weather breaks:)

Any idea what velocity you are getting with that load? Barrel length?

Have you tried a lead round nose instead of the lead semi wadcutter?
