Jacketed .38 Special Wadcutters for my 52
Hi guys! This is my first post on this forum.
I need some advice! I highly enjoy shooting my S&W 52-2, but alas, the range where I shoot does not allow me to shoot unjacketed bullets. So my first question is, does anyone know of a commercial source of jacketed .38 special wadcutters? I have looked fairly extensively, but I am coming up empty. I don't reload and am not in a position to start (my wife just barely tolerates me shooting as is).
Assuming no commercial source, I am thinking of buying a Range Officer or a S&W 911 Pro in 9mm. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this? I don't currently compete, but I used to, but with a rifle...
Thanks for your comments in advance!

Without re-loading I can't think of any.

Nice catch Chris. Did you read the reviews? Only 3 reviews but one person said the bullet would not fit in his model 52 magazine. I would buy a box of 50 before I bought a case. I noticed they looked a little long.

Would have to agree with LenV.
Those protrude too much from the case mouth but do not know the dimensions.
Revolver would be fine of coarse.
In my notes for my M52 is COAL= 1.170" +0.00/-.010"
Has to feed from the magazine reliably.

Yeah and the OP asked about jacketed bullets. I'd bet that these are plated bullets.LenV wrote:Nice catch Chris. Did you read the reviews? LOL, yes they are both shiny and frankly I don't care if they are jacketed or plated, as long as they are not bare lead.
yes, I have bought some off-brand woodcutters previously where the bullet overhung the case, and no, they wouldn't work - the bullet has to be flush.
I may buy a couple of boxes to try because I am somewhat desperate - I can always shoot them in my S&W 19.
Thanks for all your comments!

Of course jacketed bullets have a record of accuracy and plated bullets not so much. I figured that since the bullets were to be used in a S&W model 52, that the OP might wanted the more accurate of the two. As for me, lead HBWC work very well in my 52-1, so I never looked for greener pastures.Chris Miceli wrote:plated.. jacked... they both are shiny

i would call up Atlanta Arms and see if they can make flush seated 38's after all they should be flush seated, probably would not hurt to call Atalanta and see if they have a name of their bullet supplier.
Check Magnus to see if they have them in their catalog.
Google yeah shall Find......http://www.xtremebullets.com/38-148-WC-p/xc38-148wc-b0500.htm
Expensive but they have them listed in the catalog

As do Berrys and perhaps Rainier. Have no clue as to their accuracy.
