Hand Cleaner?
I started shooting Bullseye again, about a year ago, after a 30 year, or so, layoff, to shoot long guns. My local club shoots a weekly .22 indoor, 50 foot, 900 match, and I am shooting a Model 41 with Randall Fung grips. I've been working on a case of Wolf Match Target, since it's all I could find last time I needed ammo. This ammo is about the slimiest stuff I've ever handled. I have six magazines and by the time I get them loaded I have to go and wash my hands before I can get a decent grip on my gun. The problem is when I have to reload 7 times, between targets, to finish the 90 round match, my hands get gunked up again and my grip moves around and my groups deteriorate. I try to wipe off my hands with a towel but whatever is on the Wolf is pretty persistent. Does anyone have a suggestion for a solvent type hand cleaner that would be convenient to use in the short time between targets and reloading? I've got about 4,000 rounds of this stuff to go!

Welcome to the forum.
Please do not take this the wrong way, it is just a suggestion.
If you shoot right handed, then load or only handle the ammunition in your left hand.
If you shoot left handed then.....

JAGD loads both Wolf and SK. I'm shooting SK and it shoots well, but has the same slime problem. Really messy to deal with.

Try a rosen bag, like the ones pitchers use. Inexpensive and lasts a long time.

I, and more importantly my pistol, love wolf. But like you said, it's messy stuff. I use a Buffet Technologies speed loader. Makes it so I never have to touch the slime!

Re: Hand Cleaner?
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll try and track down one of the speed loaders and try that. I forgot to mention that I had tried an abrasive grip tape, but the Fung grips are so deeply stippled that the edges of the tape wouldn't stick down flat and were kind of irritating. I also have a case of Lapua Center X and it's not quite so messy. I might put the Wolf aside and shoot the Lapua to see if my grip is more consistent with it. If I could get a more consistent grip, and actually straighten my elbow, and stand up straight, and see the target and dot better, I'd be high master in no time at all......maybe I'll just be happy to still shoot 700's and not complain.

Oops, that didn't take long. Went to the Bullseye Gear website. The Buffer Tech speed loader is not listed as working with the Model 41, but I did get a can of Firm Grip Powder (as suggested by AllAces) and a regular mag loader so I can try using my off hand (as suggested by C.Perkins). Just some new stuff to try. Thanks again. ~Gary

Hand Cleaner
I use rubbing alcohol on a rag as it seems to take the greasy feeling off your hands and it's cheap at Walmart.

Re: Hand Cleaner?
Since I originally posted, I've taken to using a small spray bottle of 91% rubbing alcohol and cleaning up after I do the initial load of the eight magazines I have. I then sprinkle on some of the Firm Grip powder and rub it in. When I load the additional 35 rounds after stages, I can just wipe off the small amount of lube and my hands remain tacky from the grip powder. Also I changed grips from the Fung's to Vitarbo and they hold my hand in a more stable position to begin with. This hasn't changed my scores much, but I feel more comfortable shooting now.
