92fs trigger job
I have a 92fs which I would like to get the trigger pull down to at least 4lb. Any suggestions on parts, do it yourself or gunsmith would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Re: 92fs trigger job
I sent Dave Salyer a 92F to rebarrel, put a sight on and do a trigger job for CMP EIC match use. KC Crawford also advertises an EIC Beretta 92 package. Dave Sams works on 92s as well. I am sure one of those folks could do it, if you want to go the gunsmith route.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO THROW TALL MONEY AT THIS. HERE IS A QUICK THING TO TRY. ORDER FROM BERETTA A 92D HAMMER SPRING. THIS IS THE FACTORY HAMMER SPRING THAT IS INSTALLED IN THEIR DOUBLE ACTION ONLY MODELS. IT REDUCES THE TRIGGER WEIGHT IN A STANDARD 92 QUITE A BIT.
OR ORDER A CALIBRATION KIT FROM WOLFF GUNSPRINGS. SEE BELOW.
ALSO CONSIDER THEIR TRIGGER CONVERSION UNIT.

Hammer Spring Pak
Hammer Spring Pak - reduced power. Contains 1 each of 16, 17, 18 and 19 pound reduced power hammer springs listed above, allowing adjustment of the firearm to individual requirements.ALSO CONSIDER THEIR TRIGGER CONVERSION UNIT.

Here's a link to the "D" spring:

And a D spring kit with the steel trigger:

Re: 92fs trigger job
And a trigger shoe can make a big improvement to the feel of a 92. Instead of trying to pull straight back on a slope it makes the trigger face vertical when you get back near the letoff point.

Re: 92fs trigger job
Here is what I did and I am very happy with the results.
1. I put in a 12# hammer spring (from Wilson Combat). You could go 13#, but I have no light strikes.
2. I polished, using Mother's Mag Wheel Polish the hammer and sear contact points. Only polish to a mirror shine.
3. I gently tweaked the sear spring, by bending it forward just a tad. I have spares in case I over did it.
4. I use a metal, not plastic-coated trigger and have a match hammer.
My trigger breaks crisply at 3.3#.

Re: 92fs trigger job
Ernest Langdon has done a lot with the 92, and I would suggest you at least look at the Trigger Job In A Bag:
https://langdontactical.com/trigger-job-in-a-bag-92-96-m9-series/
First, Langdon was doing trigger jobs. Then he showed Wilson Combat how to do trigger jobs on the 92. Then he designed a trigger bar for Wilson which rotated the hammer further back during that double-action pull (storing more energy in the hammer), allowing him to have a lighter-than-16-pound hammer spring and still have as much energy in it. A lighter hammer spring is going to mean a lighter double action pull. Then he started selling drop-in trigger jobs, the TJIAB. Finally, he came out with another trigger bar which has the greater DA rotation and a much shorter trigger reset. If your wallet is really fat, he will plate all the parts with NP3.
He says he can get about 80% of the improvement with a TJIAB, as he can give you if you ship the whole pistol to him. I have several pistols that he did a trigger job on, and they may be a little better than those with a TJIAB dropped in. The NP3 does seem to add a little.
The lighter hammer springs do make a difference with that first, double-action shot. The stock 92 hammer spring is about 20 pounds, and gives a double action pull of about 12 pounds. The "D" spring is 16 pounds, and gives a double action pull of about 8 pounds. Langdon apparently ships his LTT Elites with a 13 pound spring, and double action pulls are around 6 pounds. I've switched in a 12 pound spring and gotten 100% ignition with every type of 9mm ammo I have tried. When I put a .22 Practice Kit on top of that receiver, I got lots of misfires. Langdon offers a 11-pound spring, but recommends against it for defense pistols.
I do not trust the stock trigger spring because of long-ago breakage, and routinely install the trigger spring module mentioned above made by Wolff and marketed by Wilson Combat and others. Wolff makes a module with about the same spring strength as the stock trigger spring, and a lighter one. I tried the lighter one, and it did not have the strength to force the trigger forward again. Lots of people dislike any of the Wolff modules because they feel grittiness in the trigger pull with them.
