My first inclination is List. As Steve mentioned, this started out as an email list type forum.
It was also originally sponsored on a network based in Hawaii called Lava net. I suppose the L could have a relation to that.

This reminds me why there are two ways to pronounce the word “almond”. In agriculture, when the nut is still on the tree, it’s pronounced “ALL-mund”. When removed, the word is pronounced “AM-and”.
Why? Because in order to harvest them, the farmer has to beat the L out of them.

In this case L is for lazy - if you are too lazy to shoot properly sized bullseye targets, just shoot this one and get a 10 if you hit the blackRoyDean wrote:Whilst we are on the subject of "L". Where does Police L target come from?
Seriously though, I always thought it's "league".

I remember seeing this "Lava net" somewhere on the old bullseye email forum.
Re: What does the L stand for?
It's possible it's Lokahi. One of its copyright notices listed "Bullseye Lokahi, Bullseye-L.com." In Hawaiian, lokahi means united as one, which could refer to us as a common minded group.
Re: What does the L stand for?
For us long timers (1998), it comes from Lava net, an email list server in Hawaii. John Dreyer was an early owner but there may be some before him. Founder may know.
The community was closer then because it was a personal email vs a bulletin board and we usually had full names.

Paul Perrone was the owner who started Bullseye-L around 1996 and maintained it as the moderator for 15 years.
