9mm Zero 115gr JHP-C
I recently acquired some Zero 115gr JHP-C bullets as I've been told they are "the" 9mm bullet of choice for accuracy.
[/url]
I have lots of Vihtavuori powder. N310, N320, N330, N340. And recommendations on a Bullseye load? (OAL and crimp info too please).
*I usually crimp to .378. I see a lot of folks crimping way tighter, down to .375 on their loads.
I've been reloading 9mm for 12 years. I've been reloading 38spl for 10yrs and 45acp for 4yrs. 9mm remains to be an elusive cartridge to me. I can get okay accuracy, but not clover leaf the same hole accuracy like 38spl or 45acp. Hence the quest for the 9mm Holy Grail continues...

Re: 9mm Zero 115gr JHP-C
I had very good results with N320 and 115gr Hornady JHP (HAP).
Zero bullets should not be much different. You can try it.
Light taper crimp.

I run 4.6 of N330 with the zero and Hormady xtp 115. I find the xtp to be slightly more accurate in my 18 twist KKM but not by much.

HERE YOU GO.
5.0gr VV330 115GR (MAY USE 4.8 VV320 2ND BEST)
4.8gr VV330 FOR THE 124GR
4.2gr VV330 FOR THE 147GR
OAL 1.142" (SAME FOR ALL 3)
CRIMP .377

HORNADY XTP IN 9MM IS BY FAR THE BEST IN ALL WEIGHTS 115, 124 & 147.

Re: 9mm Zero 115gr JHP-C
You'll get a variety of suggestions based on the experience of various shooters with their gun.
I've found the Zero 115 JHP-C to be very accurate in my Kart barrel, and perhaps a little more consistently accurate than the Hornady 115s, HAP and XTP. Also, N330 has not proven itself in my barrel to be as accurate as other powders. I test at 25 yards from a Ransom Rest.
Ultimately, you'll have to try different loads to see what your barrel likes.

4.1 - 4.4 VV N320 is best I have found in my guns. About 1.090 OAL and .377 +/- crimp with the ZERO 115 JHP-C.

Thanks. I just built up a couple of ladder loads to test out:Allgoodhits wrote:4.1 - 4.4 VV N320 is best I have found in my guns. About 1.090 OAL and .377 +/- crimp with the ZERO 115 JHP-C.
4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5gr N330, 1.075" OAL, .377" crimp
4.6, 4.7, 4.8gr N340, 1.075" OAL, .377" crimp
Perhaps I'll load up some with N320 as well.

Is anyone using Be-86 or Power Pistol with the 115 gr JHP for Bullseye? If so, what kind of loads do you use?

I know you'll get a variety of suggestions for loads (which is the great thing about the shooters on this forum!) which can sometimes be overwhelming but you never know what you'll find for your gun.
I've had good luck with them using 5.7 Silhouette out of my 6" Springfield PPC model. Also shoot a bunch of the Hornady HAP. I don't think I shoot well enough to realize the difference but some people on here sure will.

Part number?
I’m on the Roze Distribution page. What is the part number for the 9mm 115gr JHP-C? Thank you in advance.Hammbone wrote:I recently acquired some Zero 115gr JHP-C bullets as I've been told they are "the" 9mm bullet of choice for accuracy.

Re: 9mm Zero 115gr JHP-C
I really like those projectiles, they look like little jewels. I spent a couple of range sessions working up loads thanks to the help i've received from this forum and from a dear friend.
My 2 most accurate loads have worked extremely well in both my 9mm 1911 as well as my Sig Sauer semi-automatic p210.
3.9 grains of VV N320, 1.1inch C.O.A.L., very mild taper crimp just to straighten the case (apx. 0.378- 0.379 inch).
and
4.9 grains of CFE-P, 1.1inch C.O.A.L., very mild taper crimp just enough to straighten the case (apx. 0.378- 0.379 inch).
Interestingly my load recipes seem to be a touch lighter than some of the others posted. I do tend to favor softer shooting loads but the groups have been consistently nice and tight.
I use the 4 die Lee set, if that makes a difference?
Interested in hearing your experience as well.

Re: 9mm Zero 115gr JHP-C
You’re not alone. I think it’s fussy to reload; especially for any roundnose. Truncated cone bullets worked better for me, even in lead like the Lee 120 gr.
You didn’t state the gun and barrel combination . I have tested a SARO with a KKM 1:32
It seems to like higher velocity, 1000 fps and up, thereby negating any benefits from lower recoil

I used to load 6.2 grains of Power Pistol for my Kidd accurized Beretta 92 Brigadier with Bar Sto barrel, IIRC.swissyhawk wrote:Is anyone using Be-86 or Power Pistol with the 115 gr JHP for Bullseye? If so, what kind of loads do you use?

Re: 9mm Zero 115gr JHP-C
I have found there is so little difference between Zero, XTP, HAP and Nosler that price and availability became the only deciding factors. I also found a great load using Power Pistol. My go-to load is 6.4 gr of PP and any of the 115gr mentioned above. I guess I chose 6.4 because I'm lazy. My Lee powder dispensers throw 6.0 or 6.4 gr. I never tested 6.2.

I have had good luck with 124 GN RMR Match Winner with is similar to the HAP. I use over W231 and CFE +1 on 4.9GN CFE so far the most accurate out of my Walther 1:9 Twist Barrel.

Maybe you could enlighten us as to the distance fired, the method of testing and handgun used.LenV wrote:I have found there is so little difference between Zero, XTP, HAP and Nosler that price and availability became the only deciding factors. Re: 9mm Zero 115gr JHP-C
Easy answers, I originally posted this target in 2021 and shared more info then. My 25 yd targets are fired at 25 yds. When testing ammo I use a one hand grip resting on a sandbag. This allows me to trust the zero to be the same as shooting one handed. There is nothing to interfere with the recoil dynamics. As noted on the target my testing was done with my 952-2. That is a 10 shot group.
That was then (2021) below is now (2024) I prefer the tube scope.

how many shots do you use to compare one load to another?

It varies. Anywhere from 10 to 50, usually all on a single target.

oh, ok. is there a reason you don't test at 50 yards? that is the farthest we shoot right?

Re: 9mm Zero 115gr JHP-C
I test at 25. If it doesn’t shoot at 25 it is not likely to shoot at 50. I just adjust my criteria. If it holds X-ring at 25, it will likely shoot 10 ring at 50. I learned this in testing loads for Highpower. Testing at 600 is a major pain in the you-know-where. But I found that if the load shot at 200 or 300 it would shoot reasonably well at 600.

ok, neat. well, if you ever get some valid 50 yard data I hope you share with the class. i have an old hi-power that I need to load some food for and am on the hunt for a good load for it.
