Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
My 1911 is an older custom--a B.P.S. Shadow. Joe has worked on it and can't believe it still shoots straight. It's pretty worn out where the slide stop pin goes through the frame.
My High Standard is an 80's Connecticut model with only 4 bullseye seasons on it....a spring chicken. I wish I could figure out how to get that rear sight off--it makes clearing a malfunction a real chore with my scope mount on there.
They get the job done. If I win the powerball, I'll get a better 1911.

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
Thanks Jack!
Now I just need enough guts to strike my baby with sharp blows....
My punches are snap-on so hopefully I won't damage any of the parts, or need to drill any of them off....I might want to put the sight bridge back on someday...
Well, went ahead and did it! Broke 4 snap-on punches, and still had to drill the rivet head with the hole in it off. Then I was able to punch it through. The little roll pins were pretty easy in comparison. I think you can still order those rivets also. I'm not worried, it's not like I'll ever sell this thing anyway. I'm going to shoot it until it's worn out.

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
Slocat, sorry I haven't been on this forum for a while. I defected to the email-based google group. To answer your questions about the Salyer trio... The front straps are not checkered. Dave put strips of skateboard tape on them. Works great; saves money. I just wanted a set of basic el cheapo (but accurate) guns, so didn't consider updating to a beaver tail grip safety. I have several other fancy 1911s that have both the front strap checkering and beaver tails (Springfield Trophy Match; Kimber Team Match, Les Baer Distinguished PPC). You did good this year at Perry. Congratulations! Take care. Eric

Some photos
OK, I'll post some photos for the heck of it! My 3 primary pistols are a M41 with a chopped barrel by Lou Lombardi, a Walther .32 spacegun, and a Les Baer .45. My wife shoots the Trailside worked over by Larry Carter. Most have Rink Grips. All have UltraDots.
Not shown are a Ruger Mark II and a Houston High Standard Victor.
Best regards,
John Dreyer

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
John,
It's good to see you on this Forum. Welcome.
Who made the custom barrel for your Walther .32?
Here is another pic of my .45 and my free pistol.

The red dot scope is an Aimpoint CompC 4 MOA. I bought the Keefer 1911A1 used and it had this quality dot scope included. Otherwise I would have got an UD.

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
That is only a target shot at 50 feet. Almost any ammo out of an accurate gun will do better than that.

Jack, was that with the famous Nosler 185 gr. JHP or with a Nosler 230 grain FMJ?

Roddy tested with 185 Nosler. 4.5 N310
With Sierra 230, it shot some 90+ slowfires.

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
I have no idea what it weighs, and I don't want to take it off to weigh it. But it is in the ballpark with the UD.

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
7.1 ounces, thats about 2.3 ounces more than a Ud matchdot and 3 more than a UD 1''.

My Three Bullseye Guns
Here are my three. I just shot my first 2700 a couple of weeks ago and the 45 will take a bit of getting used to but the 22 and 32 are real easy shooters. The best part of the 45 is that it makes my Hammerli seem like a toy so it's much easier to shoot.
My 22 is a Hammerli 208 with a Matchdot and Rink grips.
My 32 is a Walther GSP and while I've heard lots of negative stuff about it at 50yds mine seems fine and groups just under 2" from a rest. It's probably the easiest one to shoot at 25yds. It has a Bushnell Trophy dot and it also has Rink grips.
My 1911 is the first 45 I've owned or shot. It was built by Roddy Toyota and is a really fun gun to shoot. It groups 1 1/4" at 50 but I don't. Not yet anyway. It also has Rink grips as I like the consistency across the guns as far as the feel in my hand.
