Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
Finally upgraded the .22. Went from a Buckmark Camper with a creepy trigger and an unserrated, soft-edged front sight to a Marvel Unit 1 heavy rib on a Kimber frame that’s been sprung to run .22 and had small parts switched out to match the feel of my .45.
It’s a huge upgrade. Cleaned the first B8 I shot after getting it sighted in, and shot a 98 on the next one. Massive, massive change from the Buckmark.

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
I rebarreled my Clark 38Special (slide is 38 AMU on kit frame from circa 1960).
I wasn't real happy with the 38Special WC for bullseye, especially at 50 yards; bullets seem to have a tendency to tip slightly, and feeding could be a bit sketchy. I trimmed 357 Magnum cases, reamed them, and seated 124-135 grain RN, conical, and RNFP bullets to fit the magazines. Barsto barrel. UltraDot. Krieger Accu-Rails. Polished and blued.
This is the best I could do with photos. I would prefer thumbs.

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
Thought you might all like to see this pistol, it is a 38 special built on a 38 super frame, the barrel is a Colt Kit Gun barrel. The gunsmith was Stan Huey, Stan learned to build pistols from Bob Chow and Cary Chin in the Bay Area. Sadly Stan passed away last August.

You sound like you might know something about Bill Davis Revolvers. They were built for wadcutters. Would you have any thoughts or info on shooting semi wadcutters through them? Just bought a Bill Davis Class III 629-1. Can find Hornady 240 SWC but no WC so far.

Full wadcutters in 44mag is the ultimate oxymoron.

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
I have heard about the model 52 since I was a kid, but have never seen one. I remedied that failure yesterday. I paid more than I wanted, but that is my normal method. In exchange for a thorough cleaning of the 5 factory mags, I received 100% function using the reloads in the picture. (nobody told me why the metal follower mags were better than the plastic follower mags, but my 2 metal models came apart easily. The plastic models were just as well-made and all functioned perfectly, but whoever pinched the floor plates with a metal press, I hope he has met his reward). A little break-free and a brass drift got the stubborn floor plates off. The remainder of parts were then easily cleaned.
Owners in this forum had prepared me for various ails and failures, but only one bit me. I got to feeling like the groups would just keep getting smaller, but I let my grip soften up after shooting the pictured group, and the next round failed to eject, with the empty preventing the next live round from feeding. Anybody like Stovepipes?
Since we can’t get our fancy equipment to make it to the moon, much less land there, I have little hope that we have the ability to duplicate a 52-2. Not the polish, not the blue. Definitely not the hand-fit feel and the accuracy that such attention to detail provides.
I figure NASA has a few spare Saturn V rockets, and a Lunar Module stashed for emergency use. Since One is None, and Two are One, I think I best be on the hunt for a spare 52-2 with a few original magazines.
I can’t believe I never had the good fortune to be bitten by the Target Master bug till now.
Try one. You might cuss it, but you will at least like looking at it, and dry firing is cheap

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
Troy, target is just 25 yards. When the wind and rain quit, I'll try 50 yards.troystaten wrote:Amanda that 52-2 looks like it shoots well, what distance is it?
I haven't done any load tests yet, just stuck to the old Bullseye standard load. I want to try other bullets and WST, but I've hit my ability limit already. You just looked at it
