Search for expansion industries and you will find the lastest news on the Texas ammo /primer maker.
At best some SPP this spring. Small samples have been released to the sporting media.

Re: Primer manufacturing
I read this thread last night and did a lot of digging.. the news on Expansion Industries seems to have dried up around the end of last year. They haven't updated their Facebook page since December... their website has "copyright 2013" at the bottom of the page, and no mention of primers.
Other than the few boxes of primers that a few YouTube guys have received, there doesn't seem to be anything else out there.
Southern Defense has SPP listed on their website as coming soon, but that was 16 weeks ago.
The former Army ammunition facility they supposedly bought is listed by the EPA as a Superfund cleanup site, and an indeed.com job search for Expansion Industries, Ammunition, Hooks TX yields zero jobs.
There's a few Reddit threads claiming that the whole thing is either a pyramid scheme or a money grabbing scam, but I don't have any proof so I won't link them here.
And there's no shortage of people on other gun forums asking similar questions with no substantial answers.
My two cents (not that you asked) is if you can find primers buy them. They may not be selling for the price that you paid back in the day, but at least you'll have them.

Re: Primer manufacturing
If you go to Ammoseek right now you can buy small pistol primers all day long both foreign and domestic manufacturers.
Opinion: I think the normal price is going to be $79.99 going forward if we don't have another major event.
Foreign primers are here to stay because of their price and availability; also they work just fine. I have used 6,330 so far without any problems.
If you need primers check out Ammoseek.
Do I wish primers were the same price they were 35 years ago yes, but that's not going to happen, so shoot what you can get life is shorter than you think.

Large primers are what we need.
I am afraid $80-120 primers with $20 shipping means the leg matches that used to have 7 people in attendance will now have 5.

Re: Primer manufacturing
Target Sports had Large Pistol $536/5,000 last month.. that includes hazmat and free shipping. I know this because I bought some.
They're out there.. how badly do you want them?

Re: Primer manufacturing
The lack of any current military pistol ammo with a LPP is not good for us…

It was 35 years ago when I started and primers should be the price now, plus gas, food, cars and housingBlack_Talon wrote:dannyd93140 wrote:

Re: Primer manufacturing
I’d love to get primers for prices I paid 35 years ago. Don’t know if I want to get paid like I did 35 years ago….

Re: Primer manufacturing
I think primer prices will continue to fall. I am thinking 40-50 per 1000. Compare the material cost to a round of .22 long rifle. The primer has less brass , an anvil, and only priming compound. While the .22 round has 5-6 times more brass, priming compound, powder and lead. I have seen .22 LR at .08 cents apiece,
I would think the cup of the primer would require fewer steps to form compared to a .22 case. Also less packaging and transportation costs.
Now the price is driven by demand and fear. When things return to normal supply and demand prices should go down especially with more manufacturers in the game.

Re: Primer manufacturing
As of now, there's no real evidence of "more manufacturers in the game".

Re: Primer manufacturing
Only new manufacture's in the game are the Foreign one's. They are getting a following for being available and lower priced.

Re: Primer manufacturing
I'd bet a half eaten doughnut that when the new domestic primer plants come on line, suddenly and coincidentaly vista outdoor will find production capacity to push prices down a lot. If we can just hang on that long.
