Brazos 160gr Button Nose OAL?
First topic message reminder :
Having some issues with some Brazos 160gr button nose. I got a sample pack, and then won a full bag of 600some in a raffle at our sectional. I've loaded 3.8-4.2gr of N310 at an OAL of 1.160in.
Accuracy is not a problem at any powder throw, and ejection is no problem either, but I keep having a failure to feed. The round gets jammed up in the top of the chamber, some so hard I've had to get a chop stick in there to get it loose.
Is my OAL off? I couldn't find much on this online.
Thanks!

One doesn’t.

Well the metalform mags have a anti tilt type followers where most flat folowers are not although there are some. Tripp followers for example.
I run 6lb springs in my metalform mags.

I'm picturing a CONEX of plain white T-shirts, Levis, and business cards.

But have you ever been kicked out of the US Olympic Training Center?
No, but I DID get sent to the office ...
Stopped off there and Neal Johnson's shop while on a dirtbike trip to Divide in '99. Asked about coaching for SB Rifle, and one of the exec's took me to his office for awhile and explained they don't do that sort of thing, but he could put me in touch with individual coaches to work on their own time. Kinda wish I'd gone back for a week or 2 with my 1411.
Re t-shirts, most are getting pretty yellow. The pack of 15 new ones my girlfriend got me as a gag gift vanished somewhere. Neither of us can find it, so I'm gonna have to go shopping ...

Load just a littler longer and that should take care of your problem. I try and stay about 1.163-1.165 and that takes care of feeding issues. The 160s like a little tighter crimp as well.

Soupy, fwiw, I’ve been loading the Brazos 160 to about 1.180, crimped to .467, and they have fed reliably in both my RRA wadcutter and my 1911 service pistol (and old Dinan build, Remington Rand slide on a Colt frame). I’ve used RRA mags in the wadcutter and both Wilson’s and WWII era Colt-Risdon mags in the Dinan (probably tuned by him). So, it might be worth loading a few longer.
The only issue I’ve had - not your problem - with the 160s (which actually weigh just north of 164) is failure to eject at 3.95 of N310 in the scoped wadcutter. 4.1 runs great.
Good luck!

FYI, I'm loading these for an Iron sight gun. It easily cycled 3.8gr of N310. Planning to see how it does every tenth down to 3.4 or 3.5.
I haven't loaded anything since starting this thread. Hoping to

FWIW, the new magazines work like a charm.
I settled on 3.6gr of N310 for the Brazos 160gr. Note this is for a metallic sight gun with a 15lb spring. 3.5 worked flawlessly for the 30 test rounds I made but I put an extra 1/10th for security.
Makes me wonder what I could down load my 185gr LSWCHPs to for this gun!
