What are your favorite non-1911 non-bullseye guns to collect.
I like many of you have gotten a pretty good collection of quality bullseye pistols for matches and beyond. Now that I've got all my bullseye needs covered I'm branching out a bit.
I've got a few nice rifles and shotguns but they tend to take up more space, require expensive glass and require reloading more calibers at a high level of precision. Seems like high end revolvers have been grabbing my attention lately, got a new Python and had a great action job done and professional mirror polish job on it. Got a full lug S&W 14 that is out for a polish and reblue. Also just got a Manurhin MR38 but had to go back to Beretta for finish issues. Think my next revolver might have to be a vintage Korth 22 or maybe a Diamondback.
So what do you guys enjoy collecting once your bullseye stable is stacked? One thing is for sure, everything I like seems to be $2-3k lol.

I have a few older ‘plinker’ type handguns that are kinda neat. 1957 Ruger single six, similar vintage high standard duramatic. Sort of blue collar for the era but built in a way that would not be possible today. An older Winchester 22 lever action rifle is fun too. Fairly common/simple examples that are neat and don’t have any special ammo requirements if I want to shoot them. Not typical collector guns by any stretch though. Stuff that I end up collecting often is stuff that I come across with out really looking for it.

Military guns. So far 1911 from 1918, Broomhandle Mauser, Webley 455, 1916 S&W 455, 1916 Colt 455, Luger P08, and the like.

My weakness is S&W numbered semi-autos, 52 and its variants, 745, 952, 945, etc. They are too nice to shoot (and I have plenty of other guns to shoot) but, oh well, everybody has a safe queen or two, right?

If you dont have one, a feinwerkbau 300S airgun. Amazing accuracy, so much fun. Also ridiculous old ppc revolvers.

Browning Hi Powers. I had over a dozen different variants at one time, now down to 4.

I guess it is a Ruger Blackhawk Single Action Six in 30 Cal. Carbine. Took it to the range one day and let all six go rapid fire like in a Bullseye match. The guy at the end of the indoor range was shooting a 308. He stopped because my pistol was way louder than his. He was a bit surprised to see a pistol that was as accurate as his rifle but more noisy. I don't take it out too much but it is a hoot to shoot....

A nice old Hi Power and P210 are on my bucket list. I've got a new production P210 but something magic about the old ones.

Colt woodsman pistols.
As a young Camp Lejeune Marine, I went to special services (where they issued golf clubs, tennis rackets, guns). The NCO issued me a Colt woodsman. Ran down to the range during noon and they would sign out 50 rds of ammo. That was my first close call with BE shooting. I learned two things - how to eat lunch at warp speed, and how to shoot that cool pistol before the range closed at 1:00.

One prize gun is a top condition Model 54 Winchester 270

It was Ruger No. 1 rifles. I sold all of them but one in a 257 Roberts. It is going to the grave with me.

Old S&W Revolvers. I, J, K, and N frames. Pinned and recessed are best.

Older military rifles and pistols from bygone days....SMLE's, FN-49's, K-98 Mauser, M1 Garand, Belgian FN-FAL Para etc etc etc,...
Couple of standouts..1903 Springfield brought back from the Euro trenches and was never arsenal refitted (matching serial #'s), still has Euro mud embedded in the buttplate screws. 1916 DWM Artillery Luger, original leather holster w/wood carbine stock, 32 round drum mag and the mag reloading tool. Man, I wish those guns could talk.....

Longer range prairie dog rifles. Especially anything AI'd.
(222, 223,223AI not long range, but fun to shoot), 6BR, 6 DASHER, 243, 243AI, 260, 708AI, and a few others that get looked. at and fondled occasionally, but rarely shot more than once a decade.

Ithaca 1911 from 1942 - shoots pretty darn nice in spite of being a rattly old pistol and having miniscule hacked up sights.

Re: What are your favorite non-1911 non-bullseye guns to collect.
I might have to add a CZ 527 in 22 Hornet to my wish list. I have always had a fascination with the fast small calibers. I got a decent Savage 17HMR with a nice trigger job but didn't end up being as accurate as I would have liked. I've also always looked at 223 bolt actions. My problem is once I start looking at rifles I start getting obsessed with accuracy which leads me into bigger more expensive rifles, I've already got a Savage 12 Benchrest in 6br that I've shot 5" x 5 shot groups at 1000yd so need to avoid spending lots of cash for another similar rifle.
