What are your favorite non-1911 non-bullseye guns to collect.
First topic message reminder :
I like many of you have gotten a pretty good collection of quality bullseye pistols for matches and beyond. Now that I've got all my bullseye needs covered I'm branching out a bit.
I've got a few nice rifles and shotguns but they tend to take up more space, require expensive glass and require reloading more calibers at a high level of precision. Seems like high end revolvers have been grabbing my attention lately, got a new Python and had a great action job done and professional mirror polish job on it. Got a full lug S&W 14 that is out for a polish and reblue. Also just got a Manurhin MR38 but had to go back to Beretta for finish issues. Think my next revolver might have to be a vintage Korth 22 or maybe a Diamondback.
So what do you guys enjoy collecting once your bullseye stable is stacked? One thing is for sure, everything I like seems to be $2-3k lol.

What kind of trap gun is that Jim? I love my Beretta 694 but is more of an all purpose clays gun.

That Burnside round was pretty crazy, just read about it a bit.
Jim, Perazzi and "cheap" don't belong in the same discussion

Well, my weaknesses after Bullseye pistols are vintage falling block rifles (particularly Ballards) and pre 64 model 70 Winchesters.

ISSF approved pistols, including Walther GSP Expert; Hammerli SSP; Manurhin MR32 Match; TOZ 35; and a couple of Steyr air pistols.
Keeps me busy in the winter months.

When it comes to handguns…nothing is more of an American classic than the .45 ACP.

My weakness is the Remington Model 700. My current collection contains 6. Most are CDL's with the lone exception of a really nice 700 Mountain rifle in stainless with a 22" barrel and a synthetic stock. Every 700 I buy goes to my gunsmith for a pillar bedding job. I also install Timney triggers in every one, set to pull 2.5 lbs but not 2.75. I don't let anybody else shoot my rifles except for my hunting buddy of nearly 45 years. As for pistols I have bought several Glocks in the last few years.

PMcfall. Beautiful Ballard! Black powder cartridge rifles and long range shooting are my first passion.

Thanks JKR. As I'm sure you know, it is a 6 1/2 Rigby model. More elaborate engraving pattern than most. Done by the old masters.
