Clean a Target... Show us!
First topic message reminder :
Just thought we could all use some Positive Reinforcement so I made this a "sticky" which means its always at the top in this topic. So when you shoot a clean target and want to hoot a little post it here for all to see!
Here is what I did last night at our weekly indoor league, 50 ft on the NRA reduced target, shot Timed fire style in four strings of 5 shots, we hang two targets at a time. 100 6x and a 100 7x this was a first for me to clean two in the same set of targets. Ended with a 493 26x out of possible 500.

Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
I have been lurking here for a while soaking up anything I can about precision pistol shooting, and a month ago bought a Marvel .22 conversion and a Ultradot from the classified here to give it a try.
This morning I shot my first match and ended up with an 833 score. I completely blew the second round timed fire target with a 58 when the sun suddenly came out and my dot disappeared!
On the third round though, I cleaned the timed fire target, and then shot a 97 in rapid fire.
I can't thank the membership here enough for sharing the knowledge and experience that they have!

Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
From yesterday outdoor match.
Rapid fire, outdoor, 25yrd, overcast, light wind.
Second one is the target I am proud of much more.
98 in a slow fire at 50yrd! My first 98 slow fire!

Getting back into bullseye...it's coming along, but not as fast as I would like. Shot this playing with an unaltered Colt MK4 Gold Cup.
Bob
Shot this awhile back with a new McMillan-built 92/M9. Good gun, so far.

Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
This morning's monthly 900 match timed fire target.
Other than that...I totally sucked with an 828-20, as I had the shakes like I've never seen before.

Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
Nice target DA/SA, but how do you expect to fire these more frequently, when the last thing you write about is how poorly you did and the excuse as to why?
Why would you write something down that you don't want to replicate?**
Seek and expand what you want to achieve.
**To be honest, we are programmed to do just what you did. Break that programming. Highlight the good and forget the rest.

Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
Your comments are appreciated!
I'm new to this and haven't really delved into the psychology of shooting yet, but I am really big on working on the fundamentals.
I was totally unprepared yesterday and was aggravated right from the start. It was a successful day though as I made no silly mistakes for the first time which cost me points. (Which was one of the things I wanted to concentrate on)
Every day is a new day, and as my wife will attest, I'm a master forgetter...
I read your comments this morning as I was leaving for the range and they fired me up (inspired me) a little in a good way. I shot 75 rounds consecutive slow fire and of them 50% were in the X ring (unprecedented for me) and only nine rounds landed outside of the 10 ring.
Thank You!!

Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
Glad to hear you were inspired.(smile) Great 10/X count.
Focusing on only the 10s and Xs is a good way to practice.

Timed fire at the monthly match. (Marvel with 1" Ultradot. 3 lb 14 oz trigger)
At least I was consistent...
I did give the dot a couple of clicks left after I benched it the next day.

Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
First ten rounds out of the gun (Marvel) Sunday morning.
All I need to do is figure out how to do that every time I pick up the gun and I'll be happy...

Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
Arthur,
I definitely think that spending a year+ shooting only the .22 conversion with a 3.5 lbs trigger was a great investment of my time. During this year I progressed from Marksman/Sharpshooter in .22-Only to Expert, and now I shoot Expert-level scores with all calibers. In addition, my conversion has a long roll trigger, and learning to shoot that helped me to improve the consistently of my hold.
I now shoot the AW93 with a divine 2-stage trigger (second stage is set up with a short roll) and my 1911, which also has a short roll trigger. This works better for me than the long roll I have on the conversion.
To repeat myself, shooting a conversion was a terrific learning experience. At least for me.
Regards,
Oleg.
