Clean a Target... Show us!
First topic message reminder :
Just thought we could all use some Positive Reinforcement so I made this a "sticky" which means its always at the top in this topic. So when you shoot a clean target and want to hoot a little post it here for all to see!
Here is what I did last night at our weekly indoor league, 50 ft on the NRA reduced target, shot Timed fire style in four strings of 5 shots, we hang two targets at a time. 100 6x and a 100 7x this was a first for me to clean two in the same set of targets. Ended with a 493 26x out of possible 500.

Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
I've been going to the range most days of the week, and dry-firing almost every day, using both my new X-Series High Standard from Alan Aronstein, and my new-to-me Victor from Roddy Toyota. I figured my "goal" was to try for all in the ten-ring, but I would be satisfied with all in the black - 25 yards. Today was no exception, and I managed to shoot all but one of my 50 rounds of CCI SV ammo into the "black" of a shoot-n-see target. I was pretty much done, with five rounds of CCI left, so I shot one last target. I can't believe the results. One hand, open sights.... I need to learn how to do it more often!!!
(I need to send this to Roddy!)

Nice Target! Make some copies and place them in various locations where they will catch your eye now and then. Might even be good as a background image for your computer screen.
Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
I've still got a long ways to go.
Ed, I'll likely just file it away in my Pendaflex folder for the Victor.
I spent the whole time for tonight's debate watching it on my left, while dry-firing, trying to repeat what I thought I did. I might have found the answer - will go back to the range tomorrow or Friday. The match is Sunday.

Your choice, but here's a little story. (anyone who knows me, knows I have a "few" stories):mikemyers wrote:I. . .

I was shooting .45 Slow Fire at a match, when I noticed the gun box to my left had a "perfect" X cutout stapled to the lid in a very conspicuous manner. I was lost for a few seconds in really appreciating the way the four tips of the arms and legs of the X were still in tact with the center gone and the grease ring marks across all four of the remaining spokes. I marveled at the precise placement of the bullet within the center of the circle of the X ring, which had been cut out for display. I returned to my Slow Fire and my very next shot was a duplicate of what I had been studying!
Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
I've been dry-firing and practicing with my Salyer Caspian for ages, and finally got to where all the shots are (usually) in the black. I think (thanks to you guys) I know "what to do", but I don't have enough power to keep the holes tighter. I decided to see what I could do, if I eliminated my one-hand shooting. This is the first target from this morning. I loaded ONE round in the magazine, gradually applied pressure to the trigger, ever so slowly, trying to see how far and hard I could push the trigger before the gun fired. (Thank you for that advice, "Cranky Thunder"). After the last shot, I got this. Close, but no cigar, but I may have a beard down to my toes before I clean a 45 target one handed, if ever. This one is at 25 yards, and because I couldn't see the holes, I had no idea where they went until I went out to check the target. My goal was one big hole that ten rounds went through, but I would be happy if all the holes were just in the black. Terry's Magnus #801 bullets, and 4.4 grains WST powder, loaded at midnight last night.
It wasn't "area aiming", as the trigger was applying pressure so slowly, I just had to keep moving the red dot to the center, not knowing when the gun would fire.
I know it doesn't "count", as one hole is out, and I used "two" many hands, but it sure did put a smile on my face!! ....and but for this forum, it never would have happened!

Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
I started shooting Bullseye in the early 90's, then took an almost 30 year hiatus when the kids were around and growing up. Came back a couple years ago and got serious about a year ago. Bought a Pardini SP about four months ago, and then with Covid I've been able to shoot as much as I want. I am at the indoor range at least four times a week for either a 600 or a 900.
Here are my three 100's, all within a week of each other.
