Clean a Target... Show us!
Just thought we could all use some Positive Reinforcement so I made this a "sticky" which means its always at the top in this topic. So when you shoot a clean target and want to hoot a little post it here for all to see!
Here is what I did last night at our weekly indoor league, 50 ft on the NRA reduced target, shot Timed fire style in four strings of 5 shots, we hang two targets at a time. 100 6x and a 100 7x this was a first for me to clean two in the same set of targets. Ended with a 493 26x out of possible 500.

Tell yourself, if you do it once, you can do it again.
Then celebrate with a nice glass of wine, or a big steak!

Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
I cleared my first ever target today! It was a timed fire target at a league match.
I also shot my first ever Master score, an 859/900! I'm very happy and looking forward to lots more Bullseye.

Fair enough. Didn't realize it was a social faux pas to stray from the main topic. Edited my post to remove the offending target.Ed Hall wrote:Nice first target! Congratulations on your first clean in competition. I find this interesting, since you are classified as Master.
As to the second target post, I'm sorry to bring up the negatives here, but I do that sometimes.
You have shown the high point with a great 100. But, you turn around and post a picture of a lesser achievement, bringing that up to the same level as the 100, and even telling everyone the details of the errant late shot further elevating it, and adding humor to bring it even further to everyone's attention. You've provided much more focus on the 92 than on the 100.
Which was the last shot for the Timed Fire target?
In reviewing your post, it would almost seem that you enjoyed shooting the Rapid Fire 92 more than the Timed Fire 100. In addition, readers of your post are left with the last impression of 92 rather than 100, which is what they should have as they exit the post.
Remember the thread title is, "Clean a Target... Show us!" rather than show us exciting targets. The targets posted in this thread should provide reinforcement for clean target achievements - the excitement of posting clean targets for everyone to admire and for everyone to visualize and think about for upcoming events.
To be honest, I also joke and spend way more time on negatives than I should, but we should strive to only promote the things we would like to duplicate and let the other things fad
The final shot of the clean target? I called it center so I believe it was one of the Xs.

Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
I hope I wasn't too harsh, and the fact of straying wasn't the issue, but the direction you strayed. I try to "preach" positive and the main subject of the thread is quite positive.* Let's keep with that. I think the "odds" are good that your last shot was an X on the Timed Fire target, as well. Let's dwell there for a bit.pgg wrote:Fair enough. Didn't realize it was a social faux pas to stray from the main topic. Edited my post to remove the offending target.

* It's common for us to display a great achievement and then quickly try to be modest by bringing up a failure right behind it, so people don't think we're bragging. But, we need to spend more time telling ourselves (and others) that we do achieve, rather than highlighting something else. Thanks for your understanding.
Now, back to some more cleans. I see another has arrived. . .

Very nice! Did you, by chance, make some notes about the strings and can/do you review them in visualization?NukeMMC wrote:This was my first of 5 TF cleans this past winter league season. This is with my trusty Hamden ML Victor and CCI SV.

Nah. I am just a "hobby" shooter. My desire to get into the full-house competition regimen again (I was a Highpower competitor for several years) has waned. This is what I do to enjoy myself and relax. If I wanted to get all uptight about my lifestyle and firing line discipline again, I'd take up golf or some other nonsense.Ed Hall wrote:Very nice! Re: Clean a Target... Show us!
That's fine. Most of our league is casual "for-fun" shooters. Once in a great while a competitor comes along. For quite a while several years back, we had a pretty dedicated group of competitors, traveling to matches and even entering teams in some events. But, that's all died down, now. All those members are now just shooting 90 rounds of .22, once a week, for fun.NukeMMC wrote:Nah. I am just a "hobby" shooter.
