New Old Reloader Find - Pics
I picked up this old reloader today from wherever I was scavenging around. Apparently it's a Texan Loadmaster, Model 101 TII. This thing is a third the size of my Dillon XL650 but probably weighs more. It has 7 stations on the turret for two pistol calibers and a powder dispenser. What's on there now are 3 sets of rifle dies and what looks like a case trimmer. There's also a unique primer feeding device. I may try to load some .32 ACP on it in advance of getting the Star Universal that's being put together for me. This old stuff is really intriquing. Anyone have an old Hollywood Automatic Shotshell Reloader they would like to sell me?

The die in the right foreground is a Vickerman seating die. The bullet was placed in the slot rater than the top of the neck.

I have two Star presses, a progressive for .38 wadcutters and a universal for .45 ACP. Both were made before I was born and I'm retired and drawing SS. These old presses continue to amaze me with the quality ammo they produce and the quality of the machining and fitting on the presses. With 7 die positions you have many possible set ups.

Thanks Wobbley, I didn't know that. There are actually two dies with the cutout like that.Wobbley wrote:The die in the right foreground is a Vickerman seating die. The bullet was placed in the slot rater than the top of the neck.

Get your .32 acp dies, a handprimer, and get to work.

I already have .32 ACP Redding Pro Series dies. I just have to take them off of my Dillon XL650. Why can't I use the primer system on the Texan? It's a unique device where primers are automatically fed into a chute and delivered to the case opening by pulling on the black knob.jmdavis wrote:Get your .32 acp dies, a handprimer, and get to work.
I've never used this kind of progressive press before. Do you perform one operation at a time or leave the case in the case holder and work toward a complete cartridge? Or does it matter?

Some do one function on all and others do all functions on one shell. Try each and see what's faster for you.

What calibre are the Vickermans. Might you want to part with them?

Based on the dies, I'm guessing that the primer system is setup for large rather than small primers. It might be difficult to get missing parts. But if it works, why not?

The one shown in the forefront is stamped Vickerman and below that 338. I couldn't find any markings on the other cut out type die. I'll have to look harder. I have no use for rifle dies so, yes I'll part with them.Jack H wrote:What calibre are the Vickermans. Might you want to part with them?

Yes, it is set up for large primers. I may able to adapt it for the small primers with some RCBS stuff.jmdavis wrote:Based on the dies, I'm guessing that the primer system is setup for large rather than small primers. It might be difficult to get missing parts. But if it works, why not?

Jack H.
The Vickerman seating die that I have available is a 30 caliber which was intended for a Star Rifle reloader. I ran out of ability to shoot rifles before I completed that project.
I would sell the die for $45.
