Walther GSP .22
I am a newby and purchased a Walther GSP in .22 manufactured in 1997. I noticed at the 25 meter range that after I adjusted the site to its maximum DOWN level, that it still shot very high, close to one meter or so above the point of aim. What should I do so that the Point of Aim and the point of impact are the same? I think my rear sights have the number 2 on them, as I understand that they are interchangeable.
Many thanks.

First off, that is an excellent pistol. You will have zero alibis as long as the round is not a dud. You can set the trigger up as a roll, 2 stage or I guess a crisp single stage. I'm not sure how they shoot at 50 yes but I'm planning on testing mine out soon. It's about 3/4-1" at 25 yes though according to my test target. The balance and recovery of this gun is almost automatic for me.
As for your sights, I ground my front sight down to shorten it back in 1988. I bet a new stock sight would do what you need. If I recall mine came with 3-4 width options for both the front and rear. I've long since lost them.
Good luck!

I like to use a carbide lamp on sights so those plastic sights would not be my first choice. But if you don't, no reason they wouldn't work.

Have you checked to make sure there are not mechanical issues on the pistol regarding the sights or barrel? Are the sights properly installed? Is the barrel properly installed?
I don't own a GSP (even though I hope to one day) but these seem like the only two issues I can see after having looked at a diagram of the gun.
Good luck!

Many thanks! I have ordered the sights from Shapeways which should resolve the issue.

Walther sells shims for the front sight.
Or you could make one from part of a beer can.
Protip: empty beer from can first.

I have a new to me GSP as well. Absolutely love it. I have had outstanding service from Earl at Earl's Repair Service (the authorized US dealer). Very responsive and helpful. I[d suggest giving him a call.

If you were a good guy John you'd offer to chug a beer and send him a piece of the can pre-cut to a proper sized shim.

If he sends me the beer, I would consider it.
