First topic message reminder :
I am close to selling my version of a New Bomar screw pattern 1911 slide mounted rail. It has lightened cuts on the bottom of the rail to shed some weight. High Speed Low Drag! It will have black anodized finish. Photo is of my prototype. If you are interested in purchasing I will be taking pre-orders. $45 plus $7.20 shipping.

I wonder if the entire first batch will be sold before they get returned from the anodizer? :-)

Re: 1911 Scope Rail
Tongue in cheek I have to ask. When is someone going to make one an inch shorter so we don't have to remove the front sight or get the hack saw out and shorten it (the mount)? It would still have 4 screws. I guess they do it for looks since I can't imagine there is any strength added from the piece past the screw. Just day dreaming out loud here.

Re: 1911 Scope Rail
You mean make it just long enough for the red dot sight, but leave room for front and rear steel sights to remain in place?

can you make one for the HS Victor hole pattern? Is the HS barrel radius close enough to the1911 slide? I missed out on the Marvel closeout

Looking sweet. Down the road any plans for a tapered version ? Or say a cocking handle winglet ?

Re: 1911 Scope Rail
Actually Mike I meant leave it like it is just shorter up front. I have zero problems removing rear sight but don't like heating up the front sight. I usually notch the rail to slide over sight. I would leave all the holes right where they are. I did hollow one out so it fit right over the top of the front sight.mikemyers wrote:You mean make it just long enough for the red dot sight, but leave room for front and rear steel sights to remain in place?
Len I don't really have a problem heating it. The 60amp plasma cutter does a great job

Re: 1911 Scope Rail
I would like to see a rail that is not too wide for Zee rings like clark rails. I think it's Clark

Re: 1911 Scope Rail
I think I have some Burris Zee rings on hand somewhere. I’ll give them a try on the rail.

Jon, you must be a mindreader. I came here just now to ask you to put me down for two rails, but I see you've already done that! Thanks!

Re: 1911 Scope Rail
Jon, my new Weaver Tactical 30mm Low 4 Hole Ring-Matte #99515 arrived today. The cross screw is very nice - it's square, steel, and is held in place with a large nut. From the instructions: "Push saddle forward to insure cross-bolt contacts forward edge of slot in base while tightening clamp nut securely."
For me, with this top rail, it didn't fit. The size of the square is 0.186", and the width of the slot was 0.178". Doesn't fit.
I assume the slots you are providing are more than wide enough for this to work?

Re: 1911 Scope Rail
Mike I had to lightly file the cross bolt on my Weaver rings too. That's the only issue I had with them. Perhaps this new rail of Jon's will accept them easier,

Nope, file the cross bolt. It's easy to do even with fine files. No reason to mess with your rail.

Will this work on my SA 1911 Range Officer Elite Target .45ACP? If yes, than I would like to place an order for one. Please let know how to proceed. Thank you.
