1911 Scope Rail
First topic message reminder :
I am close to selling my version of a New Bomar screw pattern 1911 slide mounted rail. It has lightened cuts on the bottom of the rail to shed some weight. High Speed Low Drag! It will have black anodized finish. Photo is of my prototype. If you are interested in purchasing I will be taking pre-orders. $45 plus $7.20 shipping.

Re: 1911 Scope Rail
Because I don't want to keep bothering Jon I will ask some questions here.
I am going to get the shorter RO version of the rail so I can leave both the iron sights on my 1911. From the pics I have seen online it looks like that is going to put my Aimpoint Micro H1 a little over the chamber. Will brass ejecting do damage to the sight?
If I went with the full rail and mounted the optic as far back as possible it looks like all the hot gasses will be ejected right in the front lens of the Aimpoint H1, is that the case?

Re: 1911 Scope Rail
I have never seen a problem with hot gasses when mounting to the rear. I would never be able to mount a dot there on my Kimber since it throws brass straight back. Roddy Toyota has a cure for that. When he accurized my Gold Cup he also mounted a small shield to deflect flying objects away from the dot. Judging by the beating it is taking it must work well.
Blowing it up full size you can see some gas and powder making it behind shield. Not as much as up front.
