Nothing fancy, I’ve had the High Standard since it was new, 1982, I recently purchased the Colt and had Jon Eulette install a Kart barrel and do a trigger job.

My Taurus BE gun
Nice. Where did you get that sight rail?

Tim Young wrote:Roddy Toyota figured out what I think is the best optic mount solution for the AW93. The 25mm Ultradot is very low profile to the barrel. The mount is 13mm wide allowing the gun to be disassembled easily. Rings are Leupold rimefire low 13mm x 25mm. Another plus is the open sights can be used with mount still attached, just have to remove the scope." />
I'd put a quick detach rail under the scope. The theory is that you wouldn't have to sight it in when you put it back on.

Skateboard tape is also good on the back of your smartphone or under your trackball.

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
Wes I’d recommend getting a horizontally split 30 mm ring like an Aimpoint 9000 pair. It will lower your scope and retain its zero when put back on your rail.

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
++ what Jon said, the closer the center of the optic is to the center of your bore the better! Get rid of the quick release rail and replace it with low profile quick release rings. Aluminum or steel (if you want a little more weight). That will bring your optic much closer to the bore center line.

Jon,
Did you mean change the rings and also lose the extra quick detach rail to lower the scope more.? I probably could find those rings with quick detach.
Quick noob question. If my scope malfunctioned, could I remove it and finish with iron sights? That's the reason to have detachable rings.
Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
I should have posted more information to go along with the photo of Dave Salyer holding my new (to me) gun. Dave built that gun many, many years ago, starting with a Caspian frame, and components he thought appropriate. A friend of his bought the gun, and this friend no longer shoots. In an email to Dave, not really expecting a reply, I mentioned that if he ever got one of his guns back looking for a new home, to let me know. Everything else followed.
The only change to the gun is that I prefer optics, so Dave added that. (I still have my Les Baer if I want to use steel sights. I also still have the Salyer 45 I bought from Dan Shisler, about a year ago - after using it as a way to learn how to fully disassemble and re-assemble a 1911, I expect to post it here for sale.) I asked Dave to send me a photo of the gun, and preferably one of himself also, which is how I got the photo.
I have tons of respect for Jon, Dave, KC, and a few other gunsmiths (very few). I decided last year that at some point, I would eventually buy a gun made by one of them. I'm sure I will enjoy this gun.

Jon, and others,
I got a low, horizontally split pair of Vortex rings and got rid of the extra rail. Can't wait to hit the range. Thanks for the advice.

Re: Show Me Your Bullseye Pistols
I am new to this Bullseye forum and am excited to be a member. I have been bullseye shooting since 1982 (Hoffman La Roche Pistol team and the Northern NJ Police Revolver League). I have shot for other clubs in the time since then and currently shoot as a member of the Sportsman's Gun Club in West Palm Beach Florida. My target/bullseye pistols that are currently in use are: Ruger MkII w/Volquartsen LLV-6 upper, Smith & Wesson Model 41 w/5" barrel and hologram red dot sight, and my Smith & Wesseon Model 52-2 w/a Vortex Venom red dot sight. After 7 days when I am allowed to post an external link, I will post pics of my bullseye guns. Glad to be here.
