New Pistol Dates at Camp Perry

First topic message reminder :

Due to the High Power matches being moved from Camp Perry to Camp Atterbury, IN, the pistol dates will change. The championship will now be held July 9-14, 2017.

I am a rifle guy. The XTC shooters didn't have a problem with the ranges or the dates. That is why there is now talk of filling those dates with a rematch that is coming directly from the shooters. 

The midrange shooters had a problem with the new berms. But fixing berms is easier than readying a new facility. 

Again I point to small bore and silhouette. The CMP has nothing to do with those problems.

Funny, I see a lot of top shooters what we're going to miss the pistol phase of the national matches if the are kept on the original dates...
Did anyone bother to think about the USA shooting matches at Fort  Benning? 
I know several...

That is just a new post to there original results/ story. Nothing new...

Sad to say this, but crap is everywhere in the precision shooting sports.

Looks like 50m free pistol and 50m prone rifle are to be removed from the Olympics.
Free pistol being the purist form of precision shooting.

As far as Bullseye, well; as per the CMP calendar I plan on being there for the two days.
Put in the time off for it.
The extra week that the NRA matches will not be there is a plus, will get some yard work done.

As far as the NRA calendar; good luck with that.

Those top shooters that have made their choice to go to the USA shooting matches in Fort Benning will have made their choice to go there.
If I was that disciplined as a shooter, the national matches would be nothing but practice with some monetary winning fringe benefits.

Really... tell that to all of the shooters that do both...

As of last Tuesday, the CMP had not been directly contacted by NRA Competitions. I find that interesting. Since there is clearly a date conflict between breakdown for rifle and the new pistol dates, I would have thought that there would have been some attempt to work it out.

The CMP isn't the one that wants to change the dates to something that conflicts with the existing Calendar. If the NRA wants to officially change the dates to dates that will create a conflict wouldn't you think that they would make some effort other than a press release? I would.

I have heard just the opposite.

My information came from Mark Johnson in front of a group of people at the Talledega 600. So who did you hear the opposite from and when?

funny, I have relatives that live 500+ miles away. They seem to think that the trip is much shorter for my family to visit than it is for theirs, and the last I checked, the effort was the same both ways.

So the CMP is to blame. Got it.

What say we call a halt to this discussion thread until after Christmas and New Years when, maybe, clearer heads will prevail.

CMP released new schedule w/ the June dates (formerly NRA pistol) filled with CMP rifle cup matches and filled in July 9-13 w/ NRA pistol

so..

July 1-2 CMP pistol
NRA pistol July 9-13

I think those were the original dates to be shot after the NRA match, unlike in years past when the CMP was split and wrapped around the NRA.

So now we get to travel to Camp Perry twice, for those of us who can and are willing.

I will be canceling my housing for 2017 as it will be too expensive to sit around Port Clinton for a week after SAFS, the EIC matches P100 waiting for the NRA pistol matches.

Red haired step child comes to mind.....

According to the new final official CMP calendar, NRA pistol is done on Thursday, the 13th.  So if they don't want to interfere with Canton, which is the 7th - 9th, they would need to have prelims, Harry Reeves and DR all on one day.
